On the path to normalizing the credit market

Such progressive standardisation of credit for SMEs is the consequence of the consolidation of Spain´s new financial map. It is also a result of the positive impact stimulus measures- promoted by the European Central Bank and announced by the European Commission- have had.

CEPYME explains that the current situation surrounding credit to SMEs shows a “clear gap” between the conditions for supply and low demand.

“There is a clear trend towards normalization led by growth in the number of new operations,” they add.

Resources for banks to issue loans have kept decreasing, except for new operations valued at less than €1 million –which have increased during 1S14. At present, the greater credit demand comes from industrial SMEs, followed by service sector SMEs, commerce and construction.

According to the Secretary of State for Trade Jaime García-Legaz, as long as markets are not fully normalized, the Fund for the Internationalisation of Companies will keep supporting export activity.
